San Diego // Hair by The Comb Hair Salon

Located along a stretch of shophouses at Gemmill Lane , there sits a modern and elegant country-style salon, The Comb Hair Salon. Thanks to Ryan, the hairstylist from The Comb Hair Salon, I had my roots retouched and intensified to magenta from my then-pastel-pink hair. Initially, I wanted to change my hair colour to a green ombre tone. Sadly, they ran out of the hair dye and I have no choice but to go with a violet-red shade. To my surprise, the colour seems to suit me better than I thought!

Since I was on a business trip in Kuala Lumpur, I decided to make use of the hotel bathroom as my backdrop to go with my monochrome health goth styling. It was a fun yet creative shoot with my colleague as we experimented with flash photography; trying to bring out the 80s/90s ambience

Here's another song of the post, San Diego by Hinds. It's currently my replay list in Spotify! Enjoy!

I know I was on a hiatus for a month... Plus...
Honestly, I didn't deliberately go on a hiatus. If you're following me on my IG, @jessthegrrl, you would know that my laptop was stolen and I was waiting for the police for a month to get back to me in hopes of good news. Of cos, it was a total disappointment. That person that stole my laptop was so desperate. My laptop was 6 years old and the reselling price is just pathetic.

Anyway, this is not a rant post, it's a post to tell you guys that I'm back with a new laptop and will continue to feed you with my evolving looks. Also, I'm glad to work with Dresslink again. Really appreciate their patience knowing that I will be delaying the blog post.

I always love to work with aspiring and talented fashion photographers for my personal styling shoots. This time, I got to work with Yubin, a fashion photographer, as well as my friend, Marc, to be my partner-in-crime for all the shots. I paired Dresslink's tennis skirt with a sports bra, hoodie jacket, a pair of socks and slip-on sandals; a straight-up typical Health Goth styling that Marc gladly embodied with me. I have longed for a black tennis skirt and I'm glad to be able to get them from Dresslink. As usual, they provide an awesome price range for their products! Since it's a simple black tennis skirt, I'll be sure to wear them again and style it with other outfits and looks.

White.co had sent me their whole collection and I seriously couldn't get enough of their awesome apparels! Their tee and sweaters are so comfortable! In this outfit, I decided to go for a more casual dressing with just an oversized tee with a pair of shorts. I enhanced up the look with a pair of quirky platforms sandals, a pair of high socks, beanie, and a bomber jacket. As usual, it's grunge and health goth. Just the right amount of styling for a street goth outfit.

Currently, I'm in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; I'm having a stupendous time here. It's just a short getaway of 3 days 2 nights; a last minute unplanned trip. Though it's unplanned, I was able to get a friend from Singapore to join me at the later part of my first day. As I was alone for the whole of my first day, I got to meet new friends at my apartment, by the pool; we conversed for hours and I left with a new acquaintance.
In addition, my very hospitable Airbnb host from Regalia Hotel Residence brought me around the neighbourhood and gave me a lunch treat!

Honestly, I am super lucky that my friends from KL are able to meet up even though I was being super last minute. They made time for me and drove me around the city and have been making my short stay here enjoyable!

It's a new year and I am glad that society is gradually leaning to the acceptance of the LGBT community! It's reassuring to know that some countries and cities have legalised same sex marriage. Looking at the LGBT community's journey of the fight for freedom thus far, I am proud of the standing point that the community has reached. Moreover, many artists have used different means of arts to raise the awareness of the LGBT community.

Here's one of my favourite band, Smoke Season, who just dropped their new single, Loose, last month, showing the struggle of being gay. Hope you enjoy the song!

Recently, my posts have been getting lesser as I was sick for a week due to the nasty haze in Singapore and I'm currently in Bangkok for a holiday. And yes I'm blogging this while I am currently in Bangkok. So three-cheers for crazy shopping spree!

I'm glad to be able to work with CNDirect, an wholesale online store that is filled with endless cheap loots to satisfy your shopping craves. I matched their long plaid shirt with a full nike sport bra, shorts and airforce 1 shoes, giving the usual quirks which I had embodied. Still, full monochrome but who says we can't make it interesting?

Anyway, I'm glad to have know Kas from lookbook for more than a year ago. During his stay in Singapore, I got to hangout and do couple of shoots with him. It's was all fun and awesome! Love hanging with this awesome pal of mine! His now back to Amsterdam and hopefully he will be back to Singapore soon in Jan to hang out again!

I happened to chance by Liberation by Harold van Lennep and was intrigued by the meaning of this song. Hope this song inspires you too!
