San Diego // Hair by The Comb Hair Salon

Located along a stretch of shophouses at Gemmill Lane , there sits a modern and elegant country-style salon, The Comb Hair Salon. Thanks to Ryan, the hairstylist from The Comb Hair Salon, I had my roots retouched and intensified to magenta from my then-pastel-pink hair. Initially, I wanted to change my hair colour to a green ombre tone. Sadly, they ran out of the hair dye and I have no choice but to go with a violet-red shade. To my surprise, the colour seems to suit me better than I thought!

Since I was on a business trip in Kuala Lumpur, I decided to make use of the hotel bathroom as my backdrop to go with my monochrome health goth styling. It was a fun yet creative shoot with my colleague as we experimented with flash photography; trying to bring out the 80s/90s ambience

Here's another song of the post, San Diego by Hinds. It's currently my replay list in Spotify! Enjoy!

I know I was on a hiatus for a month... Plus...
Honestly, I didn't deliberately go on a hiatus. If you're following me on my IG, @jessthegrrl, you would know that my laptop was stolen and I was waiting for the police for a month to get back to me in hopes of good news. Of cos, it was a total disappointment. That person that stole my laptop was so desperate. My laptop was 6 years old and the reselling price is just pathetic.

Anyway, this is not a rant post, it's a post to tell you guys that I'm back with a new laptop and will continue to feed you with my evolving looks. Also, I'm glad to work with Dresslink again. Really appreciate their patience knowing that I will be delaying the blog post.

I always love to work with aspiring and talented fashion photographers for my personal styling shoots. This time, I got to work with Yubin, a fashion photographer, as well as my friend, Marc, to be my partner-in-crime for all the shots. I paired Dresslink's tennis skirt with a sports bra, hoodie jacket, a pair of socks and slip-on sandals; a straight-up typical Health Goth styling that Marc gladly embodied with me. I have longed for a black tennis skirt and I'm glad to be able to get them from Dresslink. As usual, they provide an awesome price range for their products! Since it's a simple black tennis skirt, I'll be sure to wear them again and style it with other outfits and looks.

Idea of Happiness

Literally, nothing beats a sweater weather for me even under a 30º hot sunny city in Singapore. Well, my friends and colleagues were all cringing just by looking at me and telling me how they would sweat like a dog in it. Well, I'm lucky that I do not sweat that easily!

I love this sweater as they are really comfortable and who doesn't like hoodies?
Keeping things casual, I wore my sweater with a pair of white short culottes and match them with high socks and my favourite pair of creepers. Yes to creepers as I will never outgrow my 90s era! Oh! And I wore this dope shades as the sun was just too bright for my eyes to handle.

As you guys may have known, there were quite a few tragic scenarios occurring in different part of the world during Friday, the 13th, especially the Paris bombing incident that even Facebook is stepping up to create an awareness. Well, I know it's been a few weeks ago but it hits me in a way on how the society in different parts of the world perceive the idea of happiness, peace, justice, righteous and etc. I believed that it all started out with good intentions, then somehow when their goals are not attained, things starts to get twisted. I got to say that I am lucky to be born in Singapore, a country with high security. Still, it's tragic to see other innocent people from other parts of the world are suffering from civil wars, terrorists and etc, which can happen on a daily basis. It's really traumatising to be living in such condition. Honestly, I wish such wars will cease and allow these innocents victims to live a proper life.

The Perception of Babygirl does not always have to be defined as cute. Being menacing is my interpretation of beauty.

Teaming up with my partner in crime, Michelle (Do checkout her awesome Instagram), we've created a series of contradictory monochromatic outfits. I'm an angel from hell, while she's a devil from heaven. Headgears, shades, chains, layering, accessories and platforms are never one to lose even with our antipodal personalities.

I'm always thrilled to meet like minded people. Michelle and I have come a long way since we were from the same cohort of the same school, and It's been such a blessing to be able to share and learn similar styling ideas from each other.

Before I conclude my post, here's one of my current favourite tune - Daydreamer by Bipolar Sunshine. Feel free to follow me on my snapchat @jessthegrrl to find out what I'm constantly listening to! (P.S. plus some crazy lame craps too... Oops).
