Human Contact

Fringe cropped top ∆ DIY from vintage oversized top
Jean ∆ Vintage Levi's
Sandals ∆ Topshop
Necklace ∆ ASOS

It's been quite a while since I last updated my blog. For some of you who are not following my instagram, you may be wondering what have I been up to? Well to summarise things up, I had been working for 10 days straight with little sleep to prepare the materials and decorations for my Rockstar by Soon Lee stores (where I'm currently working at as a visual merchandiser). Yes I'm very tired, but that feeling of accomplishment is just so great that no words can describe it.

My outfit consists of a DIY-ed fringed cropped top (which was originally an oversized long top), a pair of distressed jeans and sandals to fit the hippie look. Plus points go to the ukulele! Anyways, today is my day off. Instead of lazing around or sleeping in, I decided to practice on my ukulele that my boyfriend had gifted to me on my birthday. Well honestly, I'm bad at it. Not sure if my fingers are retarded or just not flexible enough that makes it hard for me to get the chords right. Nevertheless, I will still try my best to get it right even if it may take quite some time. You know, practice makes perfect!

Ever since I've started working, I feel great to have met new people and make new friends. Sometimes human contact are just so important! So here's a song by Catey Shaw, Human Contact, enjoy!

Girls just want to have fun with SAMMY ICON

Socks ∆ SAMMY ICON

Jeans ∆ DIY from old Levis jeans

Shoes ∆ Keds

I am a serious sucker for socks. The more unique they are, the more I love them! I just could not help but match the different kinds of designs with my apparels and secretly mismatching them on purpose with my outfits since it's more interesting that way!

I was really excited to work with Sammy Icon and was spoilt for choices when I had to choose five lovely pairs of socks to suit my personal styling! On my previous post, I had featured the Versoix Violet socks. As promised I will be featuring more of the other socks and for this post, I decided to be more adventurous by mixing both Jungle and Purple spot socks one on each side of my feet and wore them with my black shoes. Since the colours were more cheerful, effortlessly, it became the spotlight of my outfit. I wore a simple cropped top and a pair of distressed denim jeans with a checkered shirt tied around the waist, and of cos not forgetting my favourite "swag" beanie! If you're a socks lover like me, do check their socks out! You will love it!

Oh by the way, I attended a workshop by Mash Up (a designer apparels store) to make emoji bags a few days ago! And so I decided to create an alien! Currently it's my favourite bag since I DIY-ed it!

Before I update more of my styling with Sammy Icon's socks, here are some sneak previews!

It was a really fun shooting day with the socks and having my friend, Amirul, a talented photographer to assist me for both the photographs and the locations. Even at one point, we had to deal with millipedes and also being chased away for shooting at a "protected" area and later found out that a murder had taken place there a few days ago! All these encounters made great experiences and for that, they remind me of this song "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" by STRFKR (not the original singer but I just love this version). And I hope you enjoy my styling as well as the song!

Wait And See

Top ∆ Vintage DIY men's tee
Skirt (from photo)/Dress ∆ H&M
Cardigan ∆ FemmeX (Find More Here)
Shoes ∆ Keds
Beanie ∆ Topshop

I'm excited to slip on my Keds platforms which was a gift from a friend! Though the platforms are not as high as the usual ones that I had, it is a more practical pair that can pumped up your casual or I shall say "slack" outfit. If you noticed that little turquoise thingy sticking out of the laces loops, well that's just another shoe lace that you can change with. I just tied it there as it seemed cool by adding a bit of colour to the full black shoes. To complete my "slack" look, I wore a DIY men's tee over a dress with a black cardigan and my favourite beanie!

Anyways, I will be going to Bali with my friend later in the day till Sunday! YES BALI I'M BACK!

I would also use this time to thank all my friends as well as my virtual friends who had cared for me and cheered me up with regards to my previous post. It really meant a lot to me to receive all these loves from you guys! Just some good news, my boyfriend and I may be getting back together. So I will use this trip as a time off and enjoy myself! In the meantime, I will prepare another look that I had taken a few days ago and post it up while I'm away.

For updates from my Bali trip, do check out my instagram or Facebook!

I'm feeling upbeat today so here's an indie-electronic song "Wait & See" by Holy Ghost!.

Paper Planes

Hat ∆ Forever 21 (Find Similar Here)
Shades ∆ Cheap Monday (more)
Sleevesless Shirt ∆ Vans
Shorts ∆ DIY
Shoes ∆ Vans
Bag ∆ H&M (Find Similar Here)
Accessories ∆ Forever 21, Topshop
Sock ∆ Topshop

I'm keeping my outfit simple by wearing a sleeveless tank with my DIY shorts and a pair of platform sneakers which is like two size bigger. I really love this pair of platform sneakers, but sadly I just couldn't find my size, so I thought why not just cheat my size since my feet will is hidden in it? Anyways, I'm feeling gold today so I paired my outfits with my gold accessories.

Today's outfit title is inspired by the song Paper Planes. Life is unpredictable and sometimes it can go up while other time it goes down just like a paper plane. Same goes for me. My life is not perfect. I'm someone that runs by passion. When you concentrate on passion of cos your finances may suffers depending on what kind of passion is it. It's always that passionate versus money issues that I'm sure not only Singapore is facing it.

Take me for example, I love designs, fashions and arts in general. However, the industry is so vast and sometimes, because of the money (KA-CHING!), I tend to accept the job and knowing that I absolutely hate what I am going to be doing. Then I got stuck there day by day hoping I may have the chance to break free of the boring eight to five office hours. Just like the lyrics, "All I wanna do is ... And take your money". Seriously, if you ask me if I care about my works for my clients? I can tell you, Fuck it. I ain't gonna care much and just follow what they want since at the end of the day they will pay the money and won't really appreciate your idealistic designs (which supposed to work better) by going back to the traditions. So for my salary I temporarily "murdered" my passion and let go of my time. So my paper plane took a roller coaster down. Of cos without struggling to break free from my comfort zone and submit myself to the boring life, I will be stuck there and continue to complain how shitty my life is. One day I decided to flew my paper plane again and started doing what I love, even if it means that I got to start all over from the bottom again I will do it!

So even if you're down at the bottom, need not be upset as who knows there might be a kid out there that will hold your plane up and flew it again!

Englishman on Sunset Boulevard

Hat ∆ Roxy
Tee ∆ DIY from a men's shirt
Shorts ∆ Vintage DIY
Socks ∆ HUF
Shoes ∆ Jeffrey Campbell
Laptop Bag ∆ Obey
Studded headband ∆ Topshop

While rummaging through my wardrobe, I found this old pair of black jeans that I had bought like 7 years ago, I guess? Forget about the itch from that old jeans, I was pretty excited that I am able to fit in. The material kind of got a little loose though. Instead of wearing an oversized jeans, I turn it into a ripped shorts! I paired the shorts with another DIY mens tee by cropping out those sleeves, accompanied with a vest and my current favourite pair of Jeffrey Campbell studded shoes. I just can't live without it for more than a week, definitely I will be wearing them again. To make my outfit more interesting I added on a floppy hat and studded headband as a necklace.

I spent my day chilling out with my boyfriend. We had a simple dinner and mint choco ice cream made out of dry ice from 320 Below cafe. I love the ice cream and I think they're worth to checking out!

Anyways, my title of my outfit is inspired from this song by The Tribes, here's an acoustic version of it.
