REALiTi

Top ∆ H&M
Bag ∆ Topshop
Watch ∆ JORD wood watch
Socks ∆ Topman
Platform Sneakers ∆ YRU
Photos by Audrey

A collaborative project with my dear friend Audrey for an advertorial photoshoot. I was striped down with no fancy make up on, but just foundation and white face paint. Looking like a true-blue alien, I hope my bare face do not scare you away!

Surreal is reality.
Reality is surreal.
Confusion between both worlds are hard to differentiate.
When I wake up from a dream, am I facing reality or is it still a dream within a dream? Thick layers of delusional atmosphere stacks together as I tried to pierce through them. So where is the end point to face reality? Or is reality just surreal?
What if these whole world of my beings being alive are just a dream?
I am just a dream?

I've been a super big fan of Grimes and here's one of my current favourite song from her, REALiTi.

Our Love

Pink Unicorn Crop Top ∆ H&M
Blazer ∆ Bershka (Find Similar Here)
Shoes ∆ Jeffrey Campbell (Find More)
Maxi Velvet Skirt ∆ Vintage (Find Similar Here)

This outfit was taken a few weeks ago. I started experimenting with flash photography that I normally hate most as it tends to project the worst of me like my skin, scars and etc. I mean, I'm not perfect so does everyone, but just that in photos I hope I look good without the need to Photoshop except the tones and moods that I want to express. I was feeling mellow that day (as well as today) so I wore all things black; black blazer on with my black maxi skirt and my black boots and beanie, except for my pink unicorn top which was the main focus.

I call this outfit "Our Love" taken from the song title by Sharon Van Etten (do listen to the music attached below when reading). Simple reason is that my love with this great guy had come to an end earlier today. Typically, my blog is not something that I would like to rant about relationships and all, but just this one post that I would like to summarise everything up.

Our journey began one and a half years ago. We started off as colleagues working together in the design industry and we shared similar interests. We became friends soon enough and pretty much hang out, sang and played the same kind of music, went to concerts and spent great times together. Eventually we got together and became lovers. Unknowingly as time goes by, we realised we have different goals in life. All those memories of our good times.. I'm starting to miss them. I really really do. Well my friends felt our love for each other was sweet and perfect but there were many faults in the dark zone that they will never see. Just like my outfit, my top is the main focus that takes all the attention away and not the black blazer nor the skirt. We had so much in common and so many things to share, but just the thought that we could not spend the rest of our lives together, I just feel really upset about it. Maybe the pain now is still fresh and I practically spent my whole day crying since yesterday. I guess eventually time will heal and we'll probably still be friends. Life has to go on and may the sunshines of tomorrow paint a smile on my face and no matter what I have to stay strong!

Wednesday Addams goes Modern

Knit top ∆ Topshop (Find Similar Here)
Shirt ∆ Bangkok (Find Similar Here)
Striped Pants ∆ Bangkok (Find Similar Here)
Necklace ∆ Topshop
Sandals ∆ H&M

It was not my initial plan to dress up like Wednesday Addams. Upon stumbling onto some google search, I realised that what I wore was similar to Wednesday's outfit. Since recently the weather is much cooler (mentioned in previous post), I decided to wear a knit sweater over a plain shirt with mini studs on the collar and a skinny striped pants with a sandal to be comfy and easy to walk around. Anyway, I'm back to my previous graphic design job in blanct agency for a two weeks freelancing. (Do check out their website as I was part of the team to do up the concept of the website.)

Well since my dressing for the day is similar to Wednesday Friday Addams, from The Addams Family, I decided to braid my hair and try to make the braiding stay without securing it with a rubberband and took some pictures and selfies with it. As I was born in the 90s, The Addams Family film was my all time favourite! And of cos Wednesday is my obsession! To be reminded that the film was screen on TV again and again for a few years in the 90s till early 00s really made me miss those days. How nostalgic is that?

Here's some of the Best of Wednesday Addams portrayed by Christina Ricci!
Do let me know if I resembles her!

Paper Planes

Hat ∆ Forever 21 (Find Similar Here)
Shades ∆ Cheap Monday (more)
Sleevesless Shirt ∆ Vans
Shorts ∆ DIY
Shoes ∆ Vans
Bag ∆ H&M (Find Similar Here)
Accessories ∆ Forever 21, Topshop
Sock ∆ Topshop

I'm keeping my outfit simple by wearing a sleeveless tank with my DIY shorts and a pair of platform sneakers which is like two size bigger. I really love this pair of platform sneakers, but sadly I just couldn't find my size, so I thought why not just cheat my size since my feet will is hidden in it? Anyways, I'm feeling gold today so I paired my outfits with my gold accessories.

Today's outfit title is inspired by the song Paper Planes. Life is unpredictable and sometimes it can go up while other time it goes down just like a paper plane. Same goes for me. My life is not perfect. I'm someone that runs by passion. When you concentrate on passion of cos your finances may suffers depending on what kind of passion is it. It's always that passionate versus money issues that I'm sure not only Singapore is facing it.

Take me for example, I love designs, fashions and arts in general. However, the industry is so vast and sometimes, because of the money (KA-CHING!), I tend to accept the job and knowing that I absolutely hate what I am going to be doing. Then I got stuck there day by day hoping I may have the chance to break free of the boring eight to five office hours. Just like the lyrics, "All I wanna do is ... And take your money". Seriously, if you ask me if I care about my works for my clients? I can tell you, Fuck it. I ain't gonna care much and just follow what they want since at the end of the day they will pay the money and won't really appreciate your idealistic designs (which supposed to work better) by going back to the traditions. So for my salary I temporarily "murdered" my passion and let go of my time. So my paper plane took a roller coaster down. Of cos without struggling to break free from my comfort zone and submit myself to the boring life, I will be stuck there and continue to complain how shitty my life is. One day I decided to flew my paper plane again and started doing what I love, even if it means that I got to start all over from the bottom again I will do it!

So even if you're down at the bottom, need not be upset as who knows there might be a kid out there that will hold your plane up and flew it again!

Here's the song by Beautiful Small Machines, Paper Planes.

Help I'm Alive

Top ∆ H&M
Pants ∆ The Editor's Market
Body Chain ∆ SIX accessories
Andee Black Shoes ∆ Miista

This outfit was taken a few days ago and it's been awhile since I last wore heels. To give it a natural grunge look, I paired my heels with a cosmic pants and a cut-out tank with a bralette beneath. Nothing is complete without any accessories of cos! I added on a body chain with an angular necklace on top of it and a studded bracelet of all gold in colour.

Why I had my title as 'Help I'm Alive'?
Recently I've been reading a lot of tragic news such as the cases of MAS flights MH370 and MH17, then yesterday's, TransAsia Airways GE222 and Air Algerie AH5017 as well as road accidents, natural disasters and life threatening illnesses. My thoughts and heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones. This only proved that life is really short and it be taken from you anytime. Therefore having said that, I lived by the quote,"YOLO - You Only Lived Once" and treasure each and everyday while I still can cos you might not know what's gonna happen tomorrow.

Apart from the disasters, there are people whom are lost in their lives and had gone to a dark point which can lead to thoughts of suicide. They felt beaten down by their surroundings, miserable, full of negativity and refused to move on. I feel sad for them. To be honest, I have to admit that I once felt that way before. As alive as we can be, we are stuck; lost. I come to realise that life is so much more than these negative thoughts and overcome from my misery to treasure my life more than ever. I do not want to die in vain, or simply live with regrets. I have dreams and goals in life! So why not divert those negative thoughts and move towards a goal that you can set in life?

My point is, I'm sure unfortunate victim of the disasters have goals and dreams which now remain unaccomplished. Since you are alive and kicking, why not stop pondering on negative thoughts and instead showered yourself with lot of positivity? Of cos you can say 'it is easier said than done'. Take your time to recover from being pessimistic, but I hope that you can treasure your life so that it will not be too late for you to realise that you could have done so much more with your time instead of pondering over the same old thing.
Be glad that you're alive and do seek for help if you need as life is precious!
So here's my YOLO for you!

This is a song by Metric, Help I'm Alive.

As the silent night goes lonely

Shirt ∆ Bangkok loots
Dress ∆ Bangkok loots
Snapback ∆ Drop Dead
Bag ∆ Lowry's Farm
Shoes ∆ H&M

It was a sloppy night to begin with, thus the idea of dressing casually hits me. I slipped on my long cosy dress accompanied by an oversized shirt, one of my many cheap loots from Bangkok. I completed the look with a pair of size EU36 (yes I know I have a pair of mini feet) H&M sandals which I almost died trying to find the perfect size. I'm sure I'm not the only one who faces this problem, but girls with the same problems out there yeah you get my drift.

Honestly, I can't believe that I actually owns a Drop Dead snapback. Pretty cool, isn't it? Since my hair was all over the place why not just get a snapback to cover up the mess! Without fail, I have to be accompanied by accessories. And there I have got a bunch of chains that made up into a necklace; a regular Casio watch; some bracelets; a bag where I can drop all my stuff in!
