With New York and London Fashion Weeks behind us, and Milan and
Paris still on the horizon, it’s easy to get wrapped up in spring
style. I’m already wishing I could get my hands on one of Coach’s
Gary Baseman collaboration bags, or Herve Leger’s standout pyramid
clutch. September tends to get us all a little ahead of ourselves, so allow me
to remind you that before we reach the promised land of sporty chic and fringe
galore, we have a whole exciting season of fall and winter style ahead of us.
Handbag envy has been hitting me hard after the runway shows, and
accessories become a defining feature when we start slipping in and out of
jackets. With that in mind, I’ve set out on a mission to dig up some
of the best bags to rock during the colder months. Here are some of my personal
favorites that are available just in time for fall!
A stunner that immediately stands out of the line-up is Alexander
McQueen’s Padlock Bucket Bag. The bucket bag style hit the runways
in a big way in February, and its return appearance on the streets of New York
and London and in the collections of Gucci and 3.1 Phillip Lim means the it’s
here to stay. The McQueen bag is made of calf-skin leather in stand-out primary
colors (The red is a personal favorite), and sports a long shoulder strap for
easy carrying. I love the detachable skull padlock, which can be removed for a
more professional look or snapped on to give the classy bag a hint of punky
attitude! It’s also pretty large, meaning you won’t need to sacrifice space for style.
For the more adventurous, Proenza Schouler’s Elliot Clutch is a trendy favorite.
I’ve had my eye on them since the fall 2014 show, and this bag
is a perfect representation of their colorful line up. The blend of leather and
fur makes this bag a stand out piece, and its size makes it great for evenings.
A couple of the colors (like the one with blue fur!) might be too loud for the
daytime, but it’ll definitely wow at night. If you
want a statement accessory for the season, look no further.
At the top of my list is the timeless Shelle Classica from
Rosalina Nacken. The Shelle is the master of function-meets-fashion. This
luxury option in Italian leather perfectly matches the color trends of the
season, with premium Italian leather in vibrant royal blue and peach shades,
and hints of gold on the clasps and straps that harken back to the metal’s
subtle appearances during New York Fashion Week in February. The best part of
this bag is its versatility. With its included Shelle Futura tablet case and removable straps, it’s
built to be the perfect bag for the woman on the go. Need a bag for work? Snap
on the longer strap, slip your tablet into the Futura case, and you’re
good to go. Planning a night on the town? Easily remove the strap and tablet
case, and you have an Italian couture evening clutch. If you’re
looking for a bag to organize your fall fashion around, this is my choice for
your best bet.
The list goes on and on, but these three are my highlights going
into the fall. Choosing the bag that’s perfect for you can be tough, so
hopefully this helps you get over your springtime envy and narrow down your
list going in to the end of 2014!

I love the Rosalina Nacken ones! I'm definitely into having bags be more utilitarian then fashionable.
